Chris Herring, DVM
Dr. Chris Herring is a 1992 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Herring purchased Hampton Cove Animal Hospital from Dr. Charles Horton in 1999. It has been his passion to bring and maintain excellent, thorough and compassionate patient care and customer service to our community from the beginning of his practice at Hampton Cove Animal Hospital. Dr. Herring greatly appreciates all the relationships that have developed over his years of practice. Away from the office, Dr. Herring enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hunting, fishing, working at the farm and is a regular at Auburn football games. He and his wife Susie, have three children, Blake, Andrea and Justin and two dog, Vino and Tessa.
Rachel Knight, DVM
Dr. Rachel Knight earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 2014, and shortly after began working at Hampton Cove Animal Hospital. Before attending veterinary school, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology Pre-Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 2010. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian (besides those sweet puppy or kitty appointments) is creating lasting relationships with clients and patients which helps them both lead more enjoyable lives. She has special interests in dentistry, endocrinology, and increasing client education. On the weekends you may find her playing outside with her husband and two young children, cooking with her three dogs begging at her feet or enjoying some alone time with a good book.
Rusty Clark, DVM
Dr. Rusty Clark is a 2014 graduate from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from Huntsville, as a high school and college student, he worked at Hampton Cove Animal Hospital as a kennel/DayCare attendant and patient care specialist. He graduated from Grissom High School in 2006 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Mississippi State University in 2010. After graduating veterinary school, he spent 5 years as a small animal practitioner in Port Charlotte, FL followed by 2 years in Prattville, AL before joining our team in 2021. Dr. Clark is a member of the AVMA and has special interests in dermatology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, ultrasonography, and client education. Outside of veterinary practice, he enjoys playing golf, playing music, sporting events, and spending time with his wife, Tessie and his whippet, Gimli
Cassie Taylor, DVM
Dr. Cassie Taylor earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in May, 2023. Dr. Taylor began her pre-veterinary training at Berry College, where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology (Pre-Veterinary Concentration) with minors in Chemistry and Studio Art in 2019. Dr. Taylor’s passions lie in cultivating beautiful, long-lasting relationships with her clients and their furry loved ones. She is devoted to inclusivity in decision-making to ensure her clients and patients are heard, seen, and well cared-for. Dr. Taylor’s special interests include end-of-life care, anesthesiology, dermatology, and ophthalmology. When she isn’t working, she loves painting, reading, rollerblading with her Yorkshire Terrier Bertie, and making memories with her friends and family.
